Stunning new G37 Convertible with automatic folding metal roof launches across the Middle East
Infiniti, the luxury automotive brand from Japan, last night revealed its ninth model for the Middle East market at a sophisticated launch event held at The Palladium, Dubai Media City, United Arab Emirates.
The all-new 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible has been designed from the outset with one goal in mind: to excite the senses. The stunning silhouette is perfectly proportioned, looking just as beautiful with the three-piece folding hard-top roof up or down, while the performance promised by the potent 3.7-litre V6 engine is guaranteed to delight.
“With looks like this, we think the new G37 Convertible is sure to attract the right kind of attention” said Antoine Barthes, General Manager of Infiniti Business Unit Middle East. “The G37 convertible is a rare kind of car because it’s an open four-seater with a retractable hardtop but its styling hasn’t been compromised by an awkwardly elongated trunk. We have taken the conscious decision to sacrifice a little practicality in exchange for a great deal of style” he said.
“We think this first convertible model from Infiniti is a perfect example of ‘Inspired Performance’, a theme that runs through the entire Infiniti range. It offers a unique combination of seductive style with genuinely thrilling performance and unrivalled luxury and features. It will appeal to a discerning audience who appreciate the better things in life” Barthes concluded.
The G37 Convertible comes equipped with a standard 3.7-liter VQ-series V6 with VVEL (for Variable Valve Event and Lift) rated at 328 horsepower. The engine is backed by a standard electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with magnesium paddle shifters and downshift rev-matching technology which delivers fast, smooth and satisfying downshifts for the enthusiastic driver.
Seductive Styling Inside and Out
The G37 Convertible maintains a coupe-like silhouette with the top up through use of a special three-piece ‘clamshell’ retractable hardtop, which allows for both a stylish shorter rear overhang and a low trunk lid. Compared to G37 Coupe, the G37 Convertible utilizes all-new body panels from the A-pillar back, along with a 1.1-inch wider overall width, wider rear track and modified rear suspension.
Along with its stunning G37 Coupe-like proportions, the G37 Convertible offers signature Infiniti styling cues such as flowing front fender curves, a wave-style aluminum hood, expressive front fascia with double-arch grille and L-shaped High-Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional xenon headlights with integrated fog lamps.
In the rear, the taillights are unique to the G37 Convertible, incorporating an inner “circle of light” for added style. The chrome rear trunk finisher incorporates both an integrated high-mount stoplight and the small camera for the standard RearView Monitor system.
The automatic top opening/closing sequence takes approximately 25 seconds from start to finish. The open/close switch is located on the center console, just behind the transmission shifter lever.
The G37 Convertible’s interior design combines sophistication, craftsmanship and thoughtfulness with unique, available systems created to enhance the open-air driving experience. The driver-oriented cockpit features has a high quality appearance with an Infiniti signature instrument panel design with Infiniti electroluminescent instrumentation with white illumination color scheme, integrated multi-function information drive computer display and signature Infiniti analog clock.
The double hand-stitched leather-covered steering wheel is designed for maximum comfort and usability, with standard wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls.
The G37 Convertible will be offered in eight exterior colors with a choice of black or beige leather seating complimented by polished wood trim accents. For customers with even sportier tastes, red leather seating matched with red wood accents can be specially ordered.

Nakamura’s visit highlights importance of
Mideast markets for the luxury automotive brand
The man believed to be the main mastermind behind the entire Infiniti lineup has visited the region to attend a landmark event.
Shiro Nakamura, senior vice president and chief creative officer of design and brand management of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd, arrived in Kuwait on 23rd January 2010 to attend Concours d’Elegance to be held for the first time in the GCC state. Infiniti is the most vibrant Japanese luxury automotive brand in the GCC.
The event highlighted the great passion for automobiles that Kuwait has had ever since early in the 20th century when the first car, a Belgium-made Minerva, arrived on its shores. Concours today have strict regulations and cars are inspected by qualified judges, and among them was Mr. Nakamura.
“We are very pleased with Mr. Nakamura’s visit. His very participation in this high profile event in Kuwait has certainly enhanced Infiniti’s presence and added an exquisite expert flavour to the event, as Mr. Nakamura has a unique position among the world’s top automotive designers”, said Antoine Barthes, head of Infiniti Business Unit, Middle East.
The concept of Concours originates in 17th century France when aristocrats used to choose their best horse carriages to parade around parks of Paris during the summer weekends and holidays. Later these traditions changed to automobiles from the 20th century. The event in Kuwait was held from January 20th – 23rd, 2010.
Abdulmohsen Abdulaziz Al Babtain Co. the sole agent of Nissan and Infiniti in Kuwait, hosted a special welcome reception in honor of Mr. Nakamura at the IREDI (Infiniti Retail Experience Design Initiative) showroom that embodies the unique luxury lobby, lounge, gallery concept of Infiniti. The showroom is located at Al Rai. Monal Zeidan, General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications at Nissan Middle East, attended the reception.
VIPs, including Mr. Khalid Al Babtain, chairman; Mr. Saleh Al Babtain, CEO & Vice Chairman and Mr. Mohammed Shalaby, chief operation officer of Al Babtain Group, were also present.
“His visit is incredibly valued,” said Mr. Khalid Al Babtain. “This marks one of the very special occasions for Infiniti Al Babtain. Mr. Nakamura is truly a figure to be inspired by and had a great influence on the design direction of Nissan and Infiniti lineup.”
With the company of Al Babtain’s top officials, Mr. Nakamura toured the showroom and viewed the premium lineup of Infiniti designed out of his very own creative insight, being showcased today by Infiniti worldwide.
Meanwhile, CEO Mr. Saleh Al Babtain welcomed Nakamura and the attendees and expressed his great pleasure to be hosting one of the exclusive events in the courtesy of a very special guest.
The key achievements of Mr. Nakamura were under the limelight and the main focus of the event, which introduced the guests to the long successful record accomplished by the Japanese cerebral.
Mr. Nakamura attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, which witnessed the birth of several car design careers. Nakamura is considered one of the focal figures of Infiniti and Nissan, developing the brand with exclusive designs to reflect the core concept “Adeyaka.” Adeyaka stands for luxury, distinction, elegance and a special way of life. It is about value and an optimistic outlook on the world. Moreover, it highlights liveliness and charm, demonstrated in seductive and powerful colors.

Infiniti Business Unit Middle East today announces the appointment of Mr. Antoine Barthes to the position of General Manager. Mr. Barthes succeeds Abhijeet Pandit who leaves the brand to pursue new opportunities in the industry.

Infiniti has confirmed its first production Hybrid vehicle will form part of its M range of luxury performance sedans. With its introduction, the Infiniti M35 HYBRID will realise the high performance/low emissions promise of the Infiniti Essence concept car.
The luxury automotive brand from Japan is simultaneously upping the stakes in the hybrid world by emphasizing fuel efficiency alongside an attribute that hasn’t so far featured widely among hybrids: driving pleasure.
On sale beginning Spring 2011, depending on market, the M35 HYBRID has been designed and engineered to add to, not take away from, the driving experience, a key part of any Infiniti’s appeal.
The M35 HYBRID is the brand’s first hybrid in its 20-year existence, as well as the cleanest and most economical car in its history. It is based on the all-new Infiniti M which itself picks up styling cues from Essence, the show-stopper that made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show early in 2009. The M35 HYBRID maintains a high performance luxury sedan profile, overlaying it with the fuel economy and CO2 emissions of a smaller car while delivering driving flair to please any enthusiast complete with a charismatic V6 and rear-wheel drive handling.
Infiniti’s hybrid system, developed solely within Infiniti’s parent group, is a one electric motor/twin clutch arrangement. Innovatively, the first clutch is installed between the naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 and the electric motor. The result of this elegant engineering configuration, where all components act on a single propshaft to the rear differential, is a consistent driving feel under all conditions with linear performance and the “direct responses” that the engineers sought.
The electric motor acts as both propulsion unit, boosting the V6 in “power assist” mode when maximum acceleration is required, and also as a generator. As well as charging the battery in the normal way, the motor recovers energy otherwise lost during deceleration and braking. The M35 HYBRID can also run solely on its electric motor in certain driving conditions, furthering fuel efficiency.
In this way the M35 HYBRID can optimize energy usage across the widest possible range of driving conditions, promising new levels of efficiency for a large sedan. Details of driving range, performance and transmission will be released later.
As the motoring world would expect of Infiniti, several new technologies are introduced such as a new “laminated” lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery pack that is the same size as conventional batteries but offers twice the power. Lamination enhances the pack’s cooling performance while temperature stability is further improved by the use of manganese positive electrodes. An end result of this is exceptional battery reliability.
Already the next-generation Infiniti M models are on target to beat their predecessors on fuel consumption and emissions – despite across-the-board performance improvements – thanks to a range of efficiency-enhancing measures.
The M35 HYBRID will join the conventionally-engined M models – including a new high-performance diesel V6 for Western Europe – as the first generation of Infiniti’s luxury performance sedan to be sold across all of its world markets which currently number 33 countries. Depending on market, sales are expected to start from Spring 2010 with the M35 HYBRID arriving around 12 months later. No announcement has been made yet regarding the introduction of the M35 HYBRID in other world markets.

Infiniti is already a well-know luxury automotive brand in the Middle East having been relaunched here in 2004. But the brand’s expansion into Europe continues at a fast pace – and particularly in the UK where the brand’s 13 Infiniti retail Centres will be operated by two well-established Middle Eastern business groups.
For both its UK Partners, Infiniti has turned to companies already experienced in the brand and its values, as well as in the luxury automotive market. The first Partner already announced by Infiniti, namely Rymco UK, is the brand’s importer in the Lebanon. Its second UK Partner is to be Mana Premiere Automobiles UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of Al Mana International Holding, which descends from a business group with a wealth of experience in the motor retail business in the state of Qatar representing Infiniti, Nissan and Renault.
Mana Premiere Automobiles UK will operate sites across the UK and have already identified addresses in South London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Leeds and Stockport. A further five Infiniti locations will be announced in due course. When added to the three Centres planned to be opened under Rymco UK, including Infiniti Centre Reading, this takes Infiniti’s final network to at least 13 Centres. Coverage will extend to almost the entire country as all Centres will offer the customer the Infiniti VIP Service which provides collection and delivery of their vehicle for annual maintenance up to 150 miles from the Infiniti Centre (beyond this is also available at customer contribution). Birmingham and Glasgow should be the next Centres to be completed after Reading, with their doors scheduled to open around the middle of 2010.
As with the rest of Europe, the Infiniti Centres that will be operated in the UK by Mana Premiere Automobiles UK follow the IREDI concept (Infiniti Retail Environment Design Initiative) which aims to create a welcoming and hospitable environment for buying and servicing Infiniti’s performance cars. The architecture is energetic and modern, with an accent on natural materials and warm furnishings.
The UK’s first – and Europe’s 22nd – Infiniti Centre opened its elegant glass doors for the first time on 12 September 2009. Europe’s newest luxury automotive brand has selected Reading, hi-tech hub and commercial capital of the Thames Valley west of London, as the town where Infiniti’s introduction to the UK, 20 years in the making, at last gets under way.
The Infiniti partner in Reading, Rymco UK, was set up by a partnership formed for this purpose by Rymco SAL and Mr Nasser Al-Kharafi, president of the Al-Kharafi Group. Rymco SAL – Rasamny Younis Motor Company, a joint stock company listed on the Lebanese stock exchange – has been a leading automotive retailer in Lebanon since 1957.
In the GCC, the next scheduled Infiniti Centres is due to open in Oman. Another centre will also be opened in Azerbaijan by 2010.

Infiniti continues its 20th anniversary celebrations with the launch of Infiniti.com, the brand’s first global customer website
Infiniti, the luxury automotive brand from Japan, has launched its first global web portal, Infiniti.com.
In 1989 when Infiniti took to the road, the first-ever website was still two years away. A lot has happened in the subsequent two decades – for both Infiniti and the world-wide web. Now, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Infiniti is proud to announce a new and world-class website for what has truly become a worldwide luxury brand and today present in 32 markets.
“Infiniti.com is the new web address for all things Infiniti,” said Toru Saito, Corporate Vice President and leader of the Global Infiniti Business Unit. “Like the cars, the website stands out for doing things that are a bit different, a bit more special, and a bit better.”
Infiniti.com originated as the brand’s US market destination. Now it has been relaunched so that for the first time in the brand’s 20-year history, Infiniti.com provides a single web portal where people from Seattle to Seoul can feast on a state-of-the-art, vibrant 3D graphic experience that brings every facet of Infiniti to life. Infiniti.com is now the global destination for users to comprehensively experience the Infiniti brand.
Visitors can see the latest Infiniti cars in a stunning visual and navigational format that goes well beyond a typical automotive website experience. New models will be revealed globally on Infiniti.com, while the brand’s design, technology and features are portrayed in engaging new ways thanks to advanced web technology. Infiniti.com visitors will feel they can touch the dashboard, feel the power and smell the leather.
The cars, the company, the news, the people, the technology, the philosophy, the heritage … it all comes together to preview the customer-focused experience that is at Infiniti’s heart.
This no-compromise distillation of the very best of Infiniti’s online experience into a single site has been made possible by the brand’s increasing globalization. The launch also gives the brand a single gateway into its network of individual country sites where potential customers, and current owners, can discover local specifics about Infiniti.
Just as its cars aim to inspire at every turn, Infiniti’s new global website will inspire at each click. Infiniti.com: one world, one road, one website.
Via Infiniti.com, Middle Eastern browsers are automatically linked into Infiniti’s dedicated regional website which can be found at www.infiniti-me.com

The Limited Edition FX models can either be ordered direct from the showroom floor or the individual body enhancement parts can purchased as an accessory kit and then retro-fitted on the second generation Infiniti FX35 and FX50 models.
The limited edition models have been developed by Infiniti in response to customer feedback from the Infiniti owner base. Many owners stated they were interested in mildly enhancing the appearance of their FXs to make them stand out further in the crowd.
The Limited Edition FXs come fitted with the following body enhancements parts: Front Protector, Side Sill Protector, Door Under Molding, Rear Under Protector and an Illuminated Kick Plate featuring the Infiniti logo. The Infiniti Essence concept car, shown to the world for the first time four months ago at the Geneva Motor Show, will conclude its pan-European tour at the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed taking in place on 3/4/5th July in the UK. But the Essence concept car isn’t the only Infiniti to be making its UK debut. The luxury automotive brand from Japan will also be giving visitors to the Festival a sneak preview of the forthcoming G37 Convertible model which goes on sale in the UK this September.
The Essence concept was created as a celebration of Infiniti and its 20 years history as a creator of performance cars. But equally it is an inspiring exploration into the brand’s future. The dramatic design, technology and performance statement is a 600PS petrol/electric hybrid coupe with rear-wheel drive. It will be on display on Goodwood’s FoS-TECH pavilion display and also on the famous Goodwood Hillclimb where it will be driven in public for the first time.
“While the Essence concept car is a tempting glimpse into Infiniti’s future, our cars, facilities and growth plans in the Middle East region are very much tangible” commented Abhijeet Pandit, General Manager, Infiniti Business Unit in the Middle East. “One of the brand’s distinctive ‘IREDI’ retail facilities has been operational in Kuwait City since March 2008 and more facilities will be open in the coming period. Our customer promise is a unique combination of peace of mind, hospitality and driving pleasure – all factors which will continue the Infiniti success story in our region.”
Joining Essence on the Hillclimb – and later in the Sunday Times newspaper supercar paddock - will be the 320PS, V6 powered G37 Convertible shown in right-hand drive form for the first time. Offered in a choice of two comprehensively equipped models, both featuring a metal three-piece folding roof, the G37 Convertible has been designed without compromise to look as beautiful with the top up as it does down.

Infiniti, the luxury automotive brand from Japan, is now well on its way to the UK with the first Centre under construction and on schedule to open its doors on the outskirts of Reading, close to Junction 11 of the M4 motorway outside London, during September 2009.
Infiniti Europe also confirms that the name of its UK partner for this site and two further Centres due for construction in London is also the brand’s current distributor in Lebanon.
Operating the Infiniti Centres in Reading, West and North London will be Rymco UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rasamny Younis Motor Co SAL - the Infiniti Partner in Lebanon. Paul Atkinson has been appointed as Managing Director of Rymco UK Ltd following a number of years working as a Franchise Director with premium and luxury brands in the UK at Inchcape Retail and Jardine Motors Group.
More Centres will be added progressively in key metropolitan areas over the following one to two years. Infiniti is aiming for a network of around 12 Centres in the UK although its coverage will extend to almost the entire country due to the Infiniti VIP Service which offers customers collection and delivery of their vehicle for annual maintenance up to 150 miles from the Infiniti Centre (beyond this is also available at customer contribution).
The full Infiniti Europe range of performance cars including the G37 sedan, G37 Coupé, G37 Convertible, EX37 coupé crossover and the FX line of crossovers will be available from launch in the UK. This line-up will be expanded to include a larger sedan model and a performance V6 diesel during 2010.
As with the rest of Europe, the Infiniti Centres that will be operated in the UK by Rymco follow the IREDI concept (Infiniti Retail Environment Design Initiative) which aims to create a welcoming and hospitable environment for buying and servicing Infiniti’s performance cars. The architecture is energetic and modern, with an accent on natural materials and warm furnishings. IREDI facilities are already operational in Kuwait City with further launches planned in Abu Dhabi, Oman and Azerbaijan in the near future.
The IREDI Centre concept is where Japanese luxury meets Japan’s renowned reputation for premium service. Infiniti calls this the Total Ownership Experience. As the name suggests, this ethos which is central to the brand is not just applied at the time of purchase. It also extends throughout the whole period of ownership with many benefits including collection and delivery of an Infiniti for servicing, and a mobility service that covers the owner whatever vehicle he or she might be in.

It was the unwritten rule for many years that to build a successful four-door sports sedan you need to have a German badge on the trunk lid. But just 2 years ago, all that changed when the Infiniti brand launched its first generation G sedan into the Middle East luxury car market. Now, for the 2009 model year, Infiniti unveils an updated version of the second generation ‘G’ with a new powertrain combination that is sure to keep it top of the class.
At a glance
•On sale January 2009
•Potent new ‘VQ37VHR’ 3.7-litre 24v V6 engine producing 350bhp (gross)/330bhp (net) is the most powerful normally aspirated V6 engine in the small premium sedan segment
• Advanced 7-speed automatic transmission now standard
•3.7-litre engine already nominated as one of 2008’s 10 Best Engines according to Wardsauto.com
•Vibrant and sophisticated styling
•Rear-wheel drive driving dynamics
•High level of passive occupant safety with six airbags
Overview
Ironically, it’s the success of models from the established German premium brands that have made the Infiniti G sedan an increasingly popular choice as buyers seek an alternative luxury sedan that reflects their own desire to express individuality.
“The Infiniti G37 sedan competes in one of the toughest sectors in the luxury car market but not only does this new version match or better the establishment when it comes to style, dynamic performance, equipment levels, value, and the entire ownership experience…..it also has genuine exclusivity on its side” commented Abhijeet Pandit, General Manager, Infinti Business Unit Middle East.
Infiniti G37 is a credible, confident challenger delivering substantial performance –– and rear-drive dynamics in a convincingly individual package.
“The typical buyer of a G37 is a free thinker, someone who appreciates quality and service and who doesn’t want to follow convention,” continued Pandit.
G37 Sedan in detail
Exterior styling
With its long bonnet, long wheelbase and short overhangs, the G37 blurs the boundaries between a four-door saloon and coupé. As well as providing a classic silhouette, the long bonnet is a visual reference to the G37’s ‘front midship’ engine location: the compact V6 is front-mounted, but as low and as far back as possible, with most of the block behind the front axle line. The result lowers the centre of gravity and helps to deliver the optimum front to rear weight distribution.
The low nose flows, via a curving roofline, to a high trunk to provide a feeling of motion even when the car is static. This is accentuated by a strong rising beltline, the flowing C-pillar and the muscular rear wheel arches.
To the front, the L-shaped headlamps and double-arch grille – complete with sculpted “twisted” horizontal blades inspired by traditional Japanese swords – have become Infiniti design elements helping to give the brand a distinctive face. At the rear the distinctive wraparound LED tail-lights are another Infiniti signature design. A neat, upswept spoiler integrated into the boot lid contributes to zero lift aerodynamics over the rear axle and completes the sporting look.
The overall effect combines obvious sporting potential with an understated sophistication that together capture the essence of the Infiniti brand.
Interior environment
The G37’s interior is an environment designed to appeal to driver and passengers alike. Quality materials provide the warmth and comfort expected in a premium car, yet the driver’s quarters have a ‘scooped-out’ design to emphasise the concept of a cockpit in direct contrast to the open, spacious design of the passenger area.
The dashboard and centre console adopts Infiniti design DNA with a ‘double wave’ upper section linked to a central vertical spine for a feeling of solidity. With roots in Japanese design, ‘Washi-style’ aluminium accents can be found through the cabin. Washi is a form of elegant Japanese handmade paper and textured aluminium trim inserts can be found on the centre console, the instrument binnacle and the door panels.
Optional extras are few thanks to the generous level of standard specification. African Rosewood inserts can be adopted on the center console, instrument panel and doors. A power sliding tinted glass sunroof with one touch open/close, tilt function and sunshade can be specified as can the Infinti DVD-based touch screen navigation system and Bluetooth® hands-free phone system.
At 2,850mm, the wheelbase is longer than its key rivals which translates directly into class-leading interior space for rear passengers.
Engine and powertrain
Infiniti’s latest 3.7-litre V6 is a potent, high revving, 24-valve twin cam unit producing 350bhp (gross) or 330bhp (net) at 7,000 rpm and an impressive 39 kg-m of torque at 5,200 rpm. This is the second application of this 3.7-litre engine in the Infiniti Middle East product line up following the first introduction of a higher tuned version of the engine in the G37 coupe in July 2008.
Constructed from lightweight aluminium, the engine features a two-part bed-plate construction which is more rigid than a single piece casting for reduced vibration levels.
The ‘VQ37HR’ unit, as it’s internally coded at Infinti, features VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology to optimise efficiency and, in turn, the balance between power, response, fuel efficiency and emissions.
By continually altering valve lift and therefore the quantity of air in the combustion chamber it provides a more powerful combustion phase to increase torque and power. Best of all, as the valves control the intake rather than a conventional butterfly, response to throttle inputs is immediate.
The result is a more efficient combustion to the benefit of fuel economy and lower emissions compared to standard valve lift systems
Precise mapping of the engine control unit (ECU), meanwhile, helps the engine provide a progressive ‘swell’ of power and torque, providing a ‘building wave’ of acceleration rather than a peaky power delivery.
In keeping with the performance profile of a sports sedan, Infiniti engineers have developed a distinctive aural soundtrack for the car. Equal length tubular exhaust manifolds and a symmetrical exhaust and silencer system have allowed the engineers to create a linear sound with a good balance between low and high frequency notes.
Mated to this new, bigger engine is Infiniti’s latest 7-speed automatic transmission that replaces the former 5-speed automatic and continues with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) and magnesium paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel for sporty driving. Compared to the old 5-speed, the 7-speed automatic has significantly shorter 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear ratios to add to the responsive nature of the car plus an overdrive 7th gear for relaxed cruising. And like the previous 5-speed automatic, it matches revs on downshifts and can be controlled via the magnesium paddle shifters. Transmission shift points are tuned to keep the engine in the largest part of the torque curve, ensuring there is always a healthy reserve when the driver wants to overtake. The linked Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) system switches between three different programs depending on input from the major control systems throughout the car.
Chassis and driving dynamics
Using the second generation version of FM platform, the G37 sedan has an excellent front to rear weight balance thanks to its ‘front midship’ engine location while its long wheelbase and wide front and rear track adds to the car’s overall handling stability.
The fully independent suspension uses lightweight aluminium components to reduce weight as much as possible. With a racing-inspired double wishbone set up at the front, a multi-link arrangement mounted on a subframe behind and an extremely rigid bodyshell, the G37 feels agile and surefooted with a refined ride.
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) helps to enhance vehicle stability under a variety of driving conditions.
Power-assisted 4-wheel vented disc brakes have a 4-channel, 4-sensor Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). The power steering system is a vehicle-speed-sensing type with a twin-orifice structure, which provides optimum steering effort at both high and low vehicle speeds.
Standard equipment
G37 Sedan has a full complement of user friendly and above all, useful, standard equipment.
Standard features include the Infiniti Intelligent Key with smart access and push button starter, a s 6-CD, ten-speaker Bose® premium audio system with MP3 playback and an auxiliary-in audio jack socket. The Infiniti Intelligent Key also incorporates memory positions for driver’s seat, steering wheel column and door mirrors. Bluetooth® phone connectivity (when specified as an optional extra) and cruise control can all be operated via switches on the leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel.
Other features include power seats (with eight way adjustment on both the driver and passenger sides), auto-dimming rear view mirror, front and rear parking sensors, automatic lights and wipers, 18-inch alloy wheels, six airbags and integrated fog lamps. For the perfect driving position, the binnacle is attached not to the dashboard but to the steering column itself, and moves with the wheel when the latter is adjusted for reach and rake.
A custom-engineered Bose® Audio system sets a new standard for stereo performance in a car. Its 10 high-performance speakers provide crisp musical detail, with impactful low notes bringing G37 owners closer to the power and emotion of a live concert performance. To achieve this, Bose® engineers used proprietary digital signal processing and multiple channels of custom equalization to help tune the sound specifically for the vehicle.
Safety
High levels of passive safety were a priority at the design stage. As a result, the G37 has a full complement of six airbags, with dual-stage front airbags, seat belt sensors and passenger seat occupancy sensor.
Quality
Infiniti is synonymous with vehicle quality, and that’s something that doesn’t happen by accident.
On the Tochigi production line in Japan every vehicle – not just every tenth vehicle – is laser scanned to ensure that panel gaps are within prescribed limits.
During the design and development phase, new models are exhaustively tested not just at Infiniti’s Hokkaido proving ground but also at the Tochigi and Motegi test and race complexes in Japan. Infiniti also has a vast 12.34 million square metre hot weather testing base in Arizona, USA.
Testing every Infiniti in the harshest of conditions and over thousands and thousands of kilometres ensures the durability and peace of mind that buyers can expect from the products.
Conclusion
Thanks to its power output alone – a figure way above other manufacturer entry points – the G37 sedan will continue to keep ahead of the establishment. But performance is only part of a story which includes a roomy interior, a long standard equipment list, excellent driving dynamics and sophisticated looks.
“The Infiniti G37 has the style, performance, quality and the equipment expected from a car in its class, but with the added bonus of exclusivity. This latest G37 Sedan is sure to attract even more customers to the brand,” says Abhijeet Pandit.

The essence of the Infiniti brand distilled into one car and then taken to the extremes to satisfy the world’s most demanding car enthusiasts … this is the Infiniti Essence.
Presented as a concept at the 79th International Motor Show of Geneva, Essence is a celebration of Infiniti and its 20 years history as a creator of performance cars. But equally it is an inspiring exploration into the brand’s future.
The dramatic design, technology and performance statement is a 600PS, petrol/electric hybrid coupe with rear-wheel drive. What Essence is not is merely an indulgent birthday present from Infiniti to itself.
This concept embodies Infiniti’s core values as an inspiration for the future as much a celebration of the past. Essence showcases many of the technologies, including hybrid, and design cues that will distinguish Infiniti production cars of the coming years. And by steering Infiniti’s guiding principle of “Inspired Performance” into the super-performance, super-luxury coupe market for the first time, it reaffirms Infiniti’s place among the world’s most exclusive and vibrant car brands.

ESSENCE: THE CONCEPT
“An Essence owner is characterized by his or her fearless self confidence; he or she is an intellectual hero rather than just a successful money maker.”
Francois Bancon, General Manager Advanced Product Planning
Essence began life not in the design studio but in Infiniti’s product planning department. Francois Bancon, General Manager Advanced Product Planning, and his team might not, at the start of the project, have known how Essence would look, but they did know what it had to be, why it had to exist – and who it would appeal to.
“Essence is a brand icon,” Francois Bancon said. “It is driven more by a conceptual approach than by any design execution. It is not just an object. It isn’t a teaser for a new model. It is solely dedicated to Infiniti brand promotion, to demonstrate and advocate the Infiniti unique values.”
The concept called for a very clear understanding of who the super-luxury coupe’s potential customers would be. Painstakingly, Bancon and his team of advanced product planners built up a picture of a typical Essence owner. It was a profile that showed an uncompromising, risk-taking 42-year-old passionate about the best things in life, but equally passionate about not flaunting them. “These consumers don‘t need to demonstrate to others,” said Bancon. “They are already at the next step of achievement that leads to rewarding themselves first.”
Francois Bancon went on: “We wanted a new way of mixing various ingredients to get a car that was reserved but with a big presence, something trendy but also indicating the next trend. We wanted a car that aspired to become a cult. It had to be exclusive, smart and mysterious. For the driver, it had to sum up the six-word essence of Essence:
Everything I want, nothing I don’t
ESSENCE IN DETAIL
1. DESIGN: DYNAMIC ADEYAKA
“The design embeds a sense of mystery, a sense of being in the know. Essence is not about showing signs of wealth and success.”
Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President of Design
With breathtaking good looks and perfect proportions, Essence exerts a powerful pull on all those who love cars. It looks like a driver’s car, one that would be right at home spearing down the world’s grandest motoring routes.
But Essence is no aggressive sports car. Infiniti’s “Dynamic Adeyaka” attitude ensures Essence is single-minded, but also inviting, sophisticated and born of inspiration from both the human and natural worlds. To further boost its emotional appeal, it features details that bring a very modern take to some very old Japanese traditions.
The designers’ aim was to merge all existing Infiniti design cues with fresh design language in a shape that the 20-year-old marque has never before attempted. The result is highly sculptural yet also very delicate. Essence speaks of power but not intimidation.
The bonnet is, as you would expect of an Infiniti, long, and the rear deck short. Together with a flowing “wave” profile between muscular front and rear wheelarches, Essence at first appears to be in the classic sports car mould. But there is nothing retro about Essence.
The side window graphics bring a particularly innovative and distinctive edge to the styling. The window appears to be resting on a ledge, its razor sharp line in contrast to the concave sweep of the upper body just below it. Imagine juxtaposing flowing water with the stark outline of a canyon landscape.
The rear section also features complex surfacing with concave “scoops” that flow down the rear pillars from one of Essence’s most distinctive design cues: a C-shaped kink to the side windows’ trailing edge. Outlined by a wide flourish of stainless steel, it adds instant movement to the car even when it is standing still.
One of the most distinctive details is the trim around the side air vents. The simple yet delicate shape, finely finished in aluminium, is based on the “kanzashi”, a hairpin used by women when wearing the kimono. Other lines and details are inspired by the wide brush strokes of Japanese calligraphy. Essence represents a successful merging of iconic cultural cues with automotive aesthetics.
Essence’s front is characterised by Infiniti’s signature double-arch grille, set at an angle that suggests the car is about to leap forward. There is an illuminated Infiniti badge at its heart. Rounded corners effectively hide the front overhang and make this 4.7m-long car appear anything but big in the flesh.
The grille is framed by subtle strips of stainless steel but there’s little other trim and no other grilles or intakes, not even foglights. At the front as over the rest of the car, Essence eschews superfluous body embellishments that could interrupt the graceful strength of the whole. The door handles are slithers of push buttons flush with the body while even rear-view mirrors must make way for minuscule cameras teased out of the A-pillars.
More familiar Infiniti cues include the lights. At the front the signature L-shaped modules taper back on to the bulging guards, picked out at their top edge by a row of LEDs. Slender fillets of red light curve around the car at the back, overlapping with the boot opening and framing the vestigial spoiler. Edged by more stainless steel, the spoiler appears to have been pushed out from within the car.
The windscreen flows back into a full glass roof that then tapers down towards the boot opening – making just one more memorable view of a car that doesn’t have a wrong angle to it.
On design, Essence is simple and amazingly complex, classical and totally dynamic all at the same time. Most of all as the epitome of “dynamic adeyaka” it boasts massive presence. Once seen, never forgotten.
2. INTERIOR: DRIVER-FOCUSED
“Detailed artistic expression and the rich warmth of the human hand go far beyond mechanical precision.”
Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President of Design
For a driver’s car, the perfect driver’s cabin. Essence’s interior is minimalist, ergonomic and totally focused on the job in hand: to give the person behind the wheel a feeling of absolute control. And yet all this driver focus goes hand in hand with a passenger area dominated by comfort, calm and elegance to offer the kind of hospitality that is so important to the Japanese people, and also to Essence.
The asymmetrical cabin is divided into two areas separated by a large curving console between the seats that sweeps around to merge with the centre of the dashboard. The result is two very distinct cocoons. The driver’s side is themed black, the passenger’s “cocoon” an earthy red.
A flat-bottomed steering wheel and chronometer-style dials announce to the driver this is a serious performance machine. There are no gimmicks or sci-fi solutions here, just single-minded dedication to driving. Witness the technical nature of the displays, the short, alloy-topped gear selector and, just in front of it another finger-flick away, the bright red engine start button.
The car wraps itself around the driver who can quickly relax with the Infiniti trademarks of supportive seat and perfect driving position. There are more Infiniti cues such as the big gearchange paddle shifters behind the wheel and the analogue clock in the centre of the dash.
Infiniti designers believe the best functionality works behind the scenes, appearing only when needed. They call this “hidden tech”, and it’s the key to the functional minimalism that dominates the control layout. By not baffling drivers with buttons or overburdening them with information, Essence offers a sense of well-being to everyone, allowing them to focus entirely on enjoying the energizing driving experience.
With the materials used – leather, Alcantara, hand-painted wood inspired by traditional Japanese lacquerware – the cabin exudes a rich and inviting warmth. Attention to detail is such that even the leather seams on the seat backs differ from left side to right side. Why? So they can accurately reflect the way Japanese men and women tie their kimonos.
Essence’s interior promotes a sense of well-being which is key to the Infiniti driving experience.
3. DRIVETRAIN: POWER WITH RESPONSIBILITY
“Infiniti’s performance feel has been captured as natural dynamism, like energy rising from within.”
Francois Bancon, General Manager Advanced Product Planning
Essence’s drivetrain is designed to meet the highest expectations of owners by delivering the one thing everyone expects of an Infiniti – sheer driving pleasure. In Essence that pleasure is taken to new heights, at the same time as previewing an innovative green hybrid engine.
Essence is unusual even in the rarefied atmosphere of the world’s fastest road cars by being able to call on a mighty 600PS (592bhp). The power guarantees high performance responses on any road, in any situation. Essence is not, however, an intimidating sports racer. Like the design, the performance is designed to be sophisticated and unobtrusive – performance with a human touch.
The hybrid system is a logical extension of Infiniti parent group’s groundbreaking green commitments. It offers power with efficiency, and high performance with zero-emissions running, by combining a petrol engine with an electric motor. These can work independently or together as a “parallel” hybrid system.
In congested urban areas, the electric motor alone is all that is needed for Essence to glide silently between stoplights, with no tailpipe emissions.
When the traffic clears, Essence responds with a highway performance that few cars could match. In “power assist” mode the full 600PS is unleashed with both petrol and electric power working together.
A key difference over some other hybrid systems is that both the V6 and the electric motor feed their power only to the rear wheels. Performance is more linear, response is crisper – and driving pleasure further enhanced – as a result.
Infiniti’s familiar 3.7-litre V6 gasoline engine is fitted with twin turbochargers, boosting power to 440PS (434bhp). A new direct-injection fuel system ensures the engine works more efficiently than ever in Essence.
Essence previews a new type of electric motor, called 3D Motor, that was designed to meet tough requirements on size and power output. The result is a particularly slim, disk-shaped motor that has twice the torque of a conventional unit. Its design was achieved by 3D magnetic field analysis to optimize the layout of the electromagnetic coils and permanent magnets.
In Essence, the motor is positioned between the engine and transmission and provides 160PS (158bhp), drawing power from a compact lithium-ion battery pack in the boot area. Because the 3D Motor operates in both propulsion and power regeneration modes, the battery pack is kept charged up.
Optimized energy useage across the widest possible range of driving conditions is guaranteed by two separate clutches which “switch in” the motors as required. It is a system that needs no torque converter, further enhancing responsiveness and driving pleasure.
4. SAFETY: A COLLISION-FREE FUTURE
On a global level, Infiniti is committed to building safer vehicles equipped with advanced safety technologies.
Essence previews some of the next-generation safety features that will ensure Infiniti cars remain among the safest on the road. Chief among them is a “Safety Shield” that goes a long way towards the Infiniti engineers’ dream of a collision-free car.
The Safety Shield adds two new technologies to the Distance Control Assist (DCA) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems that are available in today’s production Infinitis. Side Collision Prevention (SCP) and Back-up Collision Prevention (BCP) extend the anti-collision shield all the way around the car.
With SCP, when the driver decides to change lanes, side-mounted sensors activate a warning if an approaching vehicle is detected in the driver’s intended lane. A yaw mechanism is then activated through brake control of individual wheels to help prevent a potential collision. Back-up Collision Prevention works in a similar way, sensing a vehicle behind, giving the driver a warning but then, if the warning is not heeded, activating the brakes automatically.
The warning system and pre-emptive safety features are designed to help support the driver in an intuitive manner with minimal intervention.
5. PRACTICALITY: A VERY BESPOKE SOLUTION
The team behind Essence harked back to an early motoring era to find the right solution for carrying luggage. The result is as classy as luggage ever gets, surprisingly practical and dreamily romantic. It also re-establishes the historic ties between a carmaker and one of the best-known names in luxury goods – Louis Vuitton.
Vuitton first worked with a coachbuilder – the famous Kellner company – in 1908, equipping one of their early luxury limousines with a set of bespoke luggage. Other coachbuilders quickly beat a path to Vuitton’s door in Paris. Made-to-measure Vuitton trunks were an integral feature of some of the greatest cars of the first part of the 20th century.
The collaboration between Infiniti and Vuitton revives the idea of a set of the highest quality luggage made to fit exactly a car’s boot area. In Essence there are three rigid pieces: a matched pair of slender briefcases atop a large trunk. All are made in the new Damier Graphite canvas and feature sleekly integrated handles and an overall design in harmony with the car itself.
There is hi-tech, too. A button on the key fob electrically opens the boot lid, allowing the boot floor to slide silently rearwards. This is one boot an owner will never have to struggle to access.
In a nod at tradition, the cases even bear the initials of their owner – SN, standing for Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President of Design.
6. INFINITI: 20 YEARS OF PERFORMANCE CARS
The Essence has been 20 years in the making. For that is how long the essence of the marque – its very being, a distillation of everything that Infiniti stands for – has taken to reach its current state of perfection.
The idea behind Infiniti was first discussed in 1985 but it wasn’t until November 1989 that the first Infiniti model was sold in North America. Today it is the fastest growing luxury brand in the US.
But it is also far more than just a US brand. Today Infiniti has more than 230 dealers in 15 countries with worldwide sales of 150,000 annually.
Infiniti’s success is down to many things, not least the “Dynamic Adeyaka” attitude behind every Infiniti model. When Adeyaka meets The Total Ownership Experience the result is the three pillars of Infiniti: driving pleasure, hospitality and peace of mind.
All these values are perfectly summed up by Essence which is revealed at the Geneva Motor Show of 2009 not only to coincide with the marque’s 20th anniversary, but also in the midst of the brand’s current challenge: to take on the European market

Dubai – United Arab Emirates (9 November, 2008) – Infiniti, the region’s fastest growing luxury car brand has had its EX35 crossover vehicle honored as this year’s ‘Best Compact SUV’ (sports utility vehicle).
The award was made by a panel of expert judges at CAR Middle East magazine which is one of the region’s leading enthusiast automotive publications.
The EX35 was recognized as being the outstanding product launched into its segment this year with CAR Middle East’s Editor, Tom Bird commenting: “When we road tested the EX35 earlier in the year, we were surprised at its agility – it felt more like a sporty hatchback than a high riding SUV. And although it’s more at home on the black stuff, it won’t turn its nose up at blasting along a wadi bed”.
On hand to receive the award at Dubai’s Grosvenor House hotel was Abhijeet Pandit, General Manager, Infiniti Business Unit Middle East. “I am absolutely delighted that CAR Middle East’s esteemed judges have recognised the Infiniti EX35’s arrival into the small luxury SUV market. We launched the EX35 across the region from March 2008 and we are delighted with the customer response so far. I’m sure the addition of this wonderful endorsement will encourage even more potential customers to visit their Infiniti dealers to discover what an inspired drive the EX35 is”.
Like all Infiniti vehicles, the Infiniti EX35 has an impressive list of technology systems. It was the first Infiniti to debut the company’s around view monitor (AVM) system. This technology uses four small external cameras that feed individual images to a dashboard screen to provide the driver with a “top-down view” of the outside of the vehicle while parking, making it an effective and simple parking aid system.
The Infiniti EX35 sculpted elegance expresses a timeless appeal – sleek lines that portray speed, grace and finesse. Its layout combines the look and feel of a luxury coupe and an SUV’s flexibility. Like all Infiniti vehicles, the Infiniti EX35 was conceived to offer a reinvigorating and engaging interior environment, one that is both indulgent and inspiring.
The 2008 Infiniti EX35 is equipped with a 3.5-litre V6 engine rated at 350 horsepower (gross) and electronically controlled via a five-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control and manual shift mode which offers sequentially selected manual gear shifts and downshift rev matching.
The Infiniti EX was the highest-ranked model in initial quality in the ‘entry premium vehicle segment’ in the 2008 J.D. Power & Associates Initial Quality Survey. The Initial Quality Study ranks new vehicle quality measured after 90 days of ownership across vehicles sold in the USA.
Infiniti’s Middle East product lineup includes models such as the Infiniti G Sedan and Coupe, Infiniti EX35 crossover, Infiniti FX performance crossover, the M35/45 mid-size performance sedan and the QX56 full-size luxury SUV. Throughout the lineup, advanced technologies include innovations such as the Around-View Monitor, Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Brake Assist and Four-Wheel Active Steering. Fuel-saving powertrain technologies are featured in the Variable Valve Event & Lift and seven-speed automatic transmission (FX35 and FX50 models only).
Infiniti’s sales in the GCC have grown from approximately 4000 vehicles in 2005, to 5000 in 2006, 7000 in 2007 and in fiscal year 2008 they are expected to be in excess of 11,000 vehicles.

Infiniti, the region’s fastest growing luxury car brand is solidifying its top-tier luxury brand positioning worldwide through the introduction of its first global tagline: Inspired Performance.
Inspired Performance – which will sit below the familiar Infiniti logo in all future communications - confirms that Infiniti is a Performance luxury brand crafted to Inspire at every turn, moving the driver emotionally as well as physically. Infiniti does not copy traditional, conservative notions of luxury. The Infiniti brand is progressive, taking calculated risks to differentiate its models, offering luxury cars that exhilarate in a way that is entirely new to customers. Inspired Performance is a promise that everyone who comes into contact with Infiniti will feel inspired, whether that contact is through its products, services, centers, communications or corporate actions.
“Infiniti’s brand promise is a unique combination of peace of mind, hospitality and driving pleasure,” says Carlos Tavares, head of Infiniti worldwide. “Our new tagline illustrates that Infiniti cars are much more than exciting machines that move you from one place to another. Infiniti has an emotional, inspirational appeal, offering a very personal style of modern luxury and respectful treatment for the world’s most discerning customers.”
“By adding this new tagline in all our communications we are confirming what our existing customers already know and what our prospective customers need to know, about the Infiniti brand.” commented Abhijeet Pandit, General Manager of Infiniti Business Unit in the Middle East. “The first visible communication of the new brand tagline line will be highly impactful – we will display a large banner advertisement communicating the full Infiniti product line up at the new Emirates Airlines Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport from the 15th October” he concluded.
The Infiniti brand was first introduced in 1989 in the United States, and its name was chosen to communicate that, with Infiniti, customers could experience infinitely more performance, more design and more service. Infiniti’s global footprint expanded into Canada in 1990, the Middle East in 1996, Taiwan in 1997, Korea in 2005 and Russia in 2006. Global expansion continued in 2007 with Infinti Centers opening in the Ukraine and in one of the world’s fastest growing luxury automotive markets; China. By fiscal year 2012, Infiniti will have a presence in most of the world’s luxury markets.
Infiniti has evolved from its beginnings as a North American origin brand into a top-tier global luxury brand. In fiscal year 2004, only 7% of Infiniti sales were made outside the United States. By fiscal year 2010, it is estimated that over 25% of sales will come from markets outside the U.S.
“Infiniti is known for creating a Total Ownership Experience unlike anything in the industry,” says Tavares. “The Inspired Performance tagline underscores what Infiniti stands for and what Infiniti customers can expect from every interaction with our brand.”
In the Middle East and in particular across the GCC, the rapid growth in Infiniti sales and facilities continues. One of the brand’s distinctive ‘IREDI’ retail facilities has been operating in Kuwait City since March 2008 while the next such facility will be opened in Azerbaijan at the end of fiscal year 2008 with a further 2 facilities scheduled to open in fiscal year 2009.
As the global roll-out of the brand continues, Infiniti made its European debut at the time of the 2008 Paris Motor Show with the opening of Infiniti Centre Mirabeau, the first completed Infiniti dealership in Europe, located within the Paris city limits. In the next 6 months, Infiniti will open 21 sales centers in cities across 13 European countries, including France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, Bulgaria, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Romania and Israel. The brand will become established with a select group of partners, and growth will be built over time. By 2010, Infiniti Europe alone will have approximately 80 Infiniti Centers.
Infiniti’s Middle East product lineup includes models such as the Infiniti G Sedan and Coupe, Infiniti EX crossover, Infiniti FX performance crossover, the M35/45 mid-size performance sedan and the QX56 full-size luxury SUV.

Infiniti G Coupe owners met recently during a day filled with fun activities and driving. Fifty-seven loyal enthusiasts of Infiniti’s eye-catching luxury sports coupe gathered for their monthly meeting to drive around the United Arab Emirates and share each other’s love for the G37 Coupe.
The Infiniti G Club was launched in September 2008 by Infiniti owner Samer Al Saleh who contacted fellow owners to join the club. “The idea of having an enthusiasts club began the moment I drove my own G37 Coupe out of the showroom back in July 2008. All the passion I have for this car had to find an outlet and from there on my quest started. I began by simply talking to G37 Coupe drivers I met on the road to tell them more about my idea and then of course the idea grew virally. Finally we managed to conduct our first meeting on September 25th in Abu Dhabi”, commented Samer.
The second meeting took place at Al Mamzar area in Dubai followed by a long drive reaching Bab Al Shams hotel for lunch. “This is a great initiative from one of our Infiniti G owners who decided to launch an exclusive Infiniti G Coupe club in the United Arab Emirates. It is a purely non-profit fun club dedicated to servicing the needs of Infiniti G enthusiasts,” commented Abhijeet Pandit, General Manager of Infiniti Business Unit in the Middle East.
“The Infiniti Club is a reflection of Infiniti’s increasing popularity in the region. We consider the members of the club as our partners in promoting the Infiniti brand. It’s with their help that we will be able to achieve Infiniti’s brand commitment to the region. We sincerely hope to be able benefit from their enthusiasm and passion for Infinti in the future when promoting the Infiniti G Club around the region,” concluded Abhijeet Pandit.
Highlights of the G37 Coupe include a 350 horse-power (gross) V6 engine, seductive styling and luxury appointments – more than enough to make this inspired car the equal of its more expensive European luxury coupes. Among the key enhancements to the second-generation G Coupe is a larger, more powerful 3.7-litre V6 engine, available advanced 4-wheel active steer system, a dramatic new exterior design and a refined interior with intuitive, integrated technology which includes the Infiniti DVD Navigation System and rear view cameras.

The ALG Residual Value Awards honor those vehicles in each automotive segment predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year lease term.

Infiniti, the fastest growing Japanese luxury automotive brand in the Middle East region, has climbed seven places from ninth to second in this year’s prestigious J.D. Power & Associates Initial Quality Survey.
As well scoring highly in the overall automakers’ category, individual Infiniti models also claimed top awards.
The Infiniti EX was awarded top ranking in the entry premium vehicle segment, with the Infiniti G second in the same category. The Infiniti M took the top spot in the midsize premium segment and the Tochigi plant, which builds the Infiniti EX, Infiniti M and Infiniti G, was awarded second place in the 2008 Assembly Plant Quality Awards for the Asia/Pacific Region.
J.D. Power & Associates Initial Quality Survey is the motor industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership and was conducted between February and April 2008.
This year’s findings are based on responses from more than 81,500 people who acquired new 2008 model-year cars and trucks.
The industry average was 118 quality issues per 100 vehicles sold. Infiniti’s score was 20 points better than industry average, taking it No 2 among all automakers, compared to ninth position last year.
Abhijeet Pandit, General Manager of Infiniti Business Unit in the Middle East, described the findings as independent endorsement of the built-in quality that is at the core of the brand’s market popularity.
“Such high scores in this prestigious survey is testimony to the great strides Infiniti is making in enhancing quality of its models. Initial quality has been shown over the years to be an excellent predictor of long-term durability and surveys like this can only confirm to Infiniti owners that they made the right purchasing decision,” said Pandit.

Infiniti has announced the creation of the new Infiniti Business Unit (IBU), which will be based in Atsugi city, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan. The IBU will be headed by Akihiro Otomo, corporate vice president, who will be responsible for the brand’s global operation.
The new IBU was established in April 2008 to enhance the global operation of the Infiniti luxury brand. The aim of this business unit is to solidify global business operations for Infiniti, ensure consistent development of the Infiniti brand globally and drive profitable growth for Infiniti around the world. The IBU encompasses the fields of product planning, technical development, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, marketing, sales and after sales.
In addition, the IBU has a solid global network headed by regional leaders in the markets where the Infiniti brand has been launched which includes U.S., Europe, China, Korea, GCC and Taiwan. This will lead to closer relationship and effective cooperation between the IBU and each region.
“After being named as one of the breakthroughs for the NISSAN Value-Up business plan in 2005, Infiniti has made significant progress towards becoming a globally recognised luxury brand. We have recently launched Infiniti in new markets such as Russia, China, and Korea. As a result of this geographic expansion, as well as a strong product line-up, our global sales volume has increased,” said Akihiro Otomo, head of the unit.
“However, our challenge does not end here. I expect that the new global structure of the IBU will lead to further enhancement of our cross-functional and cross-regional activities. We should see the positive results during the next mid-term business plan, as the Infiniti business continues to grow,” Otomo added.
Since the start of the NISSAN Value-Up business plan, Infiniti’s global sales volume has increased 7.3%. At the same time, Infiniti has evolved from being primarily a U.S. brand to becoming a truly global brand. In fiscal year 2004, only 7% of Infiniti sales came from outside of the United States. In fiscal year 2007, 17% of sales came from markets outside the U.S., and this percentage is expected to rise in the future.
“Realising the sophistication of the luxury demand is one of the most important considerations in our markets. As a young brand, Infiniti has already carved out the number four market position based on its reliability and support system across the GCC region. With the help of the new Infiniti Business Unit, we are confident of posting record results in the coming periods,” said Abhijeet Pandit, General Manager of Infiniti Business Unit in the Middle East.
“Our luxury line-up has grown significantly in the last three years. We are working on several new technologies which will also be incorporated with our new model introductions. The new additions will build on the success of Infiniti’s record-breaking sales globally and regionally,” added Pandit.

Inside, the new 2008 Infiniti includes an upgraded Infiniti Navigation System with touch-screen function, new white instrument panel lighting with violet accents, white and violet interior lighting and a revised Stone coloured interior.
In addition to the advanced navigation system, other available M technology includes Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, an Infiniti Information Display with LCD screen and easy-to-use controls and RearView Monitor.
Infiniti M embodies the essence of power and sophistication, surpassing both industry standards and consumer expectations of a luxury sedan. The Infiniti M is designed to give its drivers an exhilarating driving experience.
“The Infiniti M is an expression of power, refinement, technology and design – all the things that make Infiniti owners’ hearts pound,” said Abhijeet Pandit, Brand Manger of Infiniti Middle East. “The M captures the soul of the Infiniti brand, expressing it in invigorating, forward thinking ways.”
The Infiniti M optimizes both luxury and sport styling to create a dynamic visual appeal. The revised exterior styling for 2008 includes a new front grille and bumpers, fog lamps and side sills. In the rear, the new M features revised fenders and taillights. There are also new chrome body side accents.
What hasn’t changed is how the M’s expressive crystal-look headlight clusters, which offer a luxurious appeal, while large wheels and low profile tires, stable posture with wide track, and short overhangs contribute to the sportiness of the design.
The Infiniti M’s long wheelbase and short overhangs provide a roomy interior and sporty exterior dimensions. Wide front and rear tracks add to handling stability, while the overall width enhances interior and trunk volume. Also featured are lightweight body components, including aluminium-alloy inner and outer door panels, hood and deck lid panels.
“The M’s low, aggressive hood line, which flows into the anchored shoulders and fluid roofline contribute to the sporty, powerful silhouette,” said Pandit. “There’s a solid, muscular look to the design, fitting of its vibrant performance, yet a refined, high quality feel worthy of an Infiniti flagship.”
The M’s interior design engages the senses in invigorating ways, combining a driver-oriented cockpit with a graceful, Infiniti level of luxury and design detail.
For 2008, the M features a new interior look with new “Fine Vision” electroluminescent gauges, new “gear-like” rings on the instrument cluster meters, a revised centre console, new aluminium trim surface texturing, new wood trim and door trim and a new full gray interior colour. Sport Package-equipped models receive unique steering wheel and shift knob stitching, unique front seat designs and aluminium-trimmed pedals.
These changes enhance the M’s modern, intuitive interior feel and layout, which focuses on purposeful simplicity. Interior features include genuine Rosewood or aluminium trim, leather-appointed seats, “Fine Vision” electroluminescent gauges, climate controlled front seats and available features such as heated power reclining rear seats and advanced Bose® Studio Surround™ sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding and 14 speakers including two personal speakers mounted in the shoulders of each front seat. The interior also offers an array of driver and passenger-oriented technology features, including the Infiniti Intelligent Key system with Push Button Start, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System and a RearView Monitor.
When the Infiniti M went on sale as an all-new 2006 model it captured essential elements of both a luxury performance sedan and an award-winning sports sedan. Its performance is equally engaging in the V8-equipped M45 or V6-equipped M35. The M45 continues to offer a powerful DOHC 4.5-liter V8 rated at 334 horsepower. The engine design includes titanium valves, modular cylinder heads, micro finished crankshaft, lightweight pistons and super-silent single stage cam drive chain to help optimize performance.
The M35 utilizes an advanced DOHC 3.5-liter V6 rated at 276 horsepower. The V6 is part of the award-winning VQ engine series also found in the G35 and FX35, and includes aluminum-alloy block and heads and electronically controlled “drive-by-wire” throttle system. Both engines are mated to a standard 5-speed automatic transmission with performance shifter and manual shift mode with downshift rev matching.
The M suspension is an independent double-wishbone design in front and multi-link independent system in the rear, along with front and rear stabilizer bars. The handling and stability of the Infiniti M45 is further optimised by Infiniti’s Rear Active Steer system. Unlike passive rear steering systems, this design features precise, electronic motor-driven control. This system helps improve the M45 Sport’s handling performance by adjusting the geometry of the rear suspension according to steering input and vehicle speed.
The Infiniti M’s large diameter wheels and tires are positioned out near the corners of the vehicle, helping to further enhance handling and driving excitement. For 2008, the M features new aluminium-alloy wheels with titanium finish.
The M also utilises standard 4-wheel power-assisted vented disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). The steering system is an electronically controlled vehicle-speed-sensitive power-assisted rack-and-pinion design. Every Infiniti M also features Infiniti’s advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS). The VDC adjusts brake pressure and engine torque automatically in under steer, over steer or slippery road surface situations, helping the driver keep the intended path.

Infiniti Middle East, the fastest growing Japanese luxury automotive brand in the region, in partnership with Abdulmohsen Abdulaziz Al-Babtain Company, the official Infiniti dealers in Kuwait, celebrated the launch of the first official Infiniti exclusive showroom & service centre in the Middle East. The showroom, located in Kuwait City, is part of the global expansion of the brand.
“Infiniti makes a more personal statement designed to attract buyers with a similar vision, buyers who thrive on experience, rather than status alone. There are two words at the core of Infiniti’s distinctive identity: graceful strength. Graceful strength is multi-dimensional and this is what we portray in our exclusive Infiniti showroom in the Middle East,” said Corporate Vice President, Gilles Normand.
The new showroom is built based on the Infiniti Retail Environment Design Initiative (IREDI), Infiniti’s unified global standard. The IREDI concept was established in 2005 and first applied at an Infiniti dealership in Korea in July 2005. The standard has now been applied in many Infiniti dealerships around the world including the latest showroom in Kuwait. IREDI embraces the energetic and modern designs that imbue the graceful strength of Infiniti, using rich materials, natural designs and transparent layout to highlight the energetic and modern design of all its models.
Coinciding with the launch of the new showroom, Infiniti is unveiling the all-new EX35 SUV and redesigned M; which now has the all new M35 sedan in addition to the M45. Besides these three new stars, the showroom will showcase the full line-up consisting of Infiniti G Sedan, G37 Coupe, FX & QX, the full size SUV.
"The Infiniti dealership experience is more than just buying a car. It’s about connecting to the lifestyle of our customers and developing a relationship with them that lasts beyond the sale," said Abhijeet Pandit, Infiniti Brand Manager in the Middle East. "We want this relationship to last a lifetime and for the Infiniti to be a part of their lifestyle."
The IREDI concept includes two aspects, a dynamic exterior which gives visitors a sense of warmth. A glass wall and the Infiniti logo with strong visual impact at night are some of the most distinctive features of the showroom from outside. Second, the interior features include a spacious separate lobby area and an artistic layout of the exhibition area.
Total Ownership Experience (TOE), Infiniti’s customer care philosophy, will bring precious added value to consumers in the Middle East. “TOE aims to build a good, long-term relationship with customers. Customers will get premium service the moment they enter the Infiniti showroom, and such service will continue throughout the whole process, from pre-sales to after-sales,” added Pandit.
“The new Infiniti IREDI Showroom is designed to make every visitor sense warmth and comfort from the moment of entering the reception area. Infiniti believes that it does not just sell products, but offers a ‘redefined luxury experience’ thus making the customer feel at home, bringing to life Infiniti’s graceful strength concept,” concluded Pandit.

Infiniti’s new EX35 has been rated one of the safest vehicles on the road by a leading USA authority. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's list has added the Infiniti EX to its “top safety pick” list, because of “superior overall crash protection” based on front, side and rear crash tests.
To qualify as a top pick, vehicles also must have electronic stability control. This is the first model from the automaker's luxury division to get the designation, making it the 16th mid-size SUV and 36th vehicle to earn the status.
Infiniti, the fastest growing luxury brand in the region, began US sales of the coupe-inspired EX35 last December directly after its reveal in the Middle East region during Dubai motor show. The new Infiniti EX35 is going to be available in Middle East show rooms by the end of March.
Abhijeet Pandit, Infiniti Brand Manager in the Middle East, described the Insurance Institute rating as independent endorsement for the quality and innovation of Infiniti’s safety engineering.
“The EX35 is a prime example of the high priority that Infiniti places on road safety. The Insurance Institute’s ‘top safety pick’ comprises a very elite group, which qualifies only after very stringent assessment,” added Pandit.
The EX35 marked the world production car debut of the advanced Around View Monitor (AVM) system, which uses four small cameras to give the driver a “top-down view” of the outside of the vehicle while parking.
Standard safety features include the Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual stage supplemental front air bags, driver and front passenger side-impact supplemental air bags, and roof-mounted curtain side-impact and rollover supplemental air bags for front and rear seat outboard occupant head protection.

This marks the 14th straight year a VQ series engine has been included in the annual list by Ward’s Automotive Group, making it the only engine, represented every year, the award has been given.
Infiniti’s all-new 2008 G37 Coupe sets new standards for style, performance, and luxury and now available in all showrooms in GCC. Among key enhancements to the second-generation G Coupe is the larger and more powerful 3.7-litre V6 engine that is featured in the January 2008 issue of Ward’s AutoWorld.
Ward's AutoWorld is a monthly magazine serving more than 68,000 automotive professionals globally. The twice-monthly newsletter Ward's Engine & Vehicle Technology Update provides analysis of engineering advancements and technical issues.
The ‘10Best’ award will be presented in Detroit during the 2008 North American International Auto Show.
The VQ37VHR engine is built at an engine facility in Iwaki, Japan. Rated at 330 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, it contains about 35 percent new and unique parts from the VQ35HR engine introduced just last year in the 2007 Infiniti G35 Sedan.
Along with a larger displacement than the previous 3.5-litre powerplant, the G37 Coupe’s new VVEL system combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to help improve performance and response. The VVEL system also improves emissions and fuel efficiency.

Infiniti, the Middle East’s fastest-growing luxury automotive brand, revealed exponential growth of 200% in September 07 over the same period last year.
Market share is growing by a steep double-digit rate annually, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, reflects a world-wide surge in Infiniti popularity.
Speaking at the Dubai Middle East launch of the three new Infiniti models, EX35, G37 coupe, and M35 sedan, Corporate Vice President Gilles Normand informed his guests that he expects sales to keep growing at the same phenomenal rate.
“Infiniti has changed the world of luxury automobiles forever”, said Normand. In the United States, the brand has grown to be a major player with a growing line-up of award-winning vehicles. The Infiniti Middle East line up has now matched the US range. Infiniti is more than merely a company that makes cars. An organisation rooted in a passion to create automobiles with significance beyond their physical presence. Infiniti is a globally-recognised luxury auto brand with a unique vision – one that is bold, vibrant and distinctive.
“Infiniti makes a more personal statement designed to attract buyers with a similar vision, buyers who thrive on experience, rather than status alone,” Normand explained.
“There are two words at the core of Infiniti’s distinctive identity: graceful strength. Graceful strength is multi-dimensional,” he said. “It describes a rich, deep, authentic experience in both performance and refinement.”
In action, graceful strength is supported by three brand pillars: peace of mind, hospitality and driving pleasure. Together they provide structure and direction through every design and engineering decision, every customer interaction and every way in which an Infiniti driver engages with the brand.
“Infiniti is now represented in 15 markets including the GCC. As our line-up of vibrant vehicles continues to grow – from five models in our fiscal year 2005 to eight in fiscal year 2007 to 10 models in fiscal year 2010 – we expect sales to more than double, exceeding 10,000 units per year,” Normand ended.

Infiniti, the fastest growing luxury auto brand in the Middle East, continues to set the bar in the luxury segment, with its strong-selling line-up that has grown significantly with the introduction of three new 2008 stars. Infiniti held a media preview of the new models at the Montgomerie Golf Club in Dubai on November 12, 2007, followed by a public preview at the 9th Middle East Motor Show the next day.
The new Infiniti G37 Coupe sets new standards for style, performance and luxury. This sporty drive will reach regional showrooms in January along with the 2008 Infiniti EX35 (in March), a coupé-inspired SUV design.
“The G37 Coupe builds on the styling, performance and interior enhancements of the G Series, adding the dynamic style, sporty atmosphere and expressive driving character expected of a class-leading luxury sport coupe. On the other hand, the EX35’s interior is all about driving pleasure and passenger comfort. Like the exterior, it offers a coupe-like feel but surprising utility – ideal for today’s active lifestyles”, commented Abhijeet Pandit, Infiniti Brand Manager in the Middle East.
The new additions will build on the success of Infiniti’s record-breaking sales in the Middle East region. The modified Infiniti luxury range comprises of the new Infiniti EX35, G37 Coupé and M35, which add to the full line-up of the award winning M45, FX, G Sedan, and QX.
Highlights of the G37 include a new 350 horse-power (gross) V6 engine, seductive styling, and luxury appointments – taking the exhilarating performance, elegance, and sporty interior of the original Infiniti G Coupe to new levels.
Among the key enhancements to the second-generation G Coupe is a larger, more powerful 3.7-litre V6 engine, available advanced 4-wheel active steer system, a dramatic new exterior design and a refined interior with intuitive, integrated technology which includes the GCC Navigation system and the rear view cameras.
The EX35’s sculpted elegance expresses a timeless appeal – sleek lines that portray speed, grace and finesse.
Its sporty proportions include a long hood, short front and rear overhangs, rearward cabin and smooth coupe-like roofline arching over the windows to the C-pillars.
The exterior of Infiniti EX35 includes many signature Infiniti touches, including a double-arch grille, large L-shaped headlights with Xenon head lamps, integrated fog lights, distinctive LED taillights and “dynamic arch” profile.
The newcomer is a welcome addition to the Infiniti lineup, filling the gap between the G35 sedan and the M45 sedan.
Inside, the M35 presents an interior that is pure Infiniti – highly expressive styling that combines a driver-oriented cockpit with inviting design detail. The modern and intuitive interior layout focuses on purposeful simplicity.
The M35 also boasts state of art technology features such as parking sensors, DVD navigation, intelligent key, hands-free Bluetooth phone, rear view camera, push button ignition, and a Bose audio system with MP3.
Performance is provided by Nissan’s award-wining 3.5 litre, V6 VQ 35DE engine, with DOHC and titanium valves. Power tops out at 289 hp/6200 rpm, with maximum torque of 371 Nm/4800 rpm.
The Infiniti M45 premium luxury sedan is the most technologically advanced vehicle ever built by Infiniti, setting the standard for progressive technology for Infiniti today and all the Infiniti models that will follow.
Infiniti M45 has key features that distinguish it in the marketplace like push start button, AFS (Adaptive front headlight System), intelligent key, rear view camera, tire pressure Monitor, Navigation System, Bluetooth and climate control seats.
At the heart of the Infiniti M45 is the high-performance power of advanced V8 engine. The M45 features the powerful 4.5-liter DOHC V8 engine that drives the car with 362 horsepower. The M45 is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with short-throw performance shifter and manual shift mode.
The 2008 Infiniti FX, Infiniti’s dramatic premium crossover arrives with a sports car-inspired performance and a long list of available technology features. Since its debut in 2003, the Infiniti FX has become a highly aspirational car among SUV cross-over lovers and enjoys an iconic status in the Infiniti range.
Along with the exhilarating sporty performance of the Infiniti FX, entertainment is further enhanced with the Infiniti DVD mobile entertainment system, which comes as a standard in the 2008 Infiniti FX. Rear passengers can enjoy a movie on the road, or play their favorite video game via a 7-inch color monitor that flips down from the overhead center console. Digital-quality audio is available through wireless headphones with a remote control to enhance the luxury experience.
The G Sedan’s vibrant design begins as an evolution of the original’s, with its long, wave-like hood, pushed back A-pillars and athletic stance. It is clean, simple and projects a balance of power and grace that is suggestive of the performance potential within.
The soul of the G Sedan has always been its dynamic performance and at the heart of its advanced drivetrain has always been its award-winning VQ 3.5-liter V6 engine and advanced FM (Front Mid-ship) platform. Both engine and platform have been significantly enhanced for use with the G Sedan.
Its Infiniti stable mate – the 2008 QX luxury sport utility vehicle – combines all the luxury appointments of the QX with seating for up to eight, generous cargo and towing capacity, plus rugged off-road capability.
Designated QX for its powerful 5.6-litre, 360-horsepower V8 engine, and the 2008 Infiniti model is designed for buyers who are looking for something new and different in a full-size luxury SUV. It provides a combination of practical elegance and ergonomic thoughtfulness with a rewarding level of comfort and indulgence.
The major exterior enhancements to the QX56 include front grill and fog lights, roof rack, new design 20x8 inch chromed aluminium-alloy wheels along with standard rear sonar sensors and rear suspension levelling system. Standard features include dual power adjustable folding heated side view mirrors with auto-dim and integrated turn signals; rear privacy glass, power flip-up lift gate windows; and running boards.

PRIMEDIA’s Intellichoice.com, in conjunction with owner satisfaction specialists AutoPacific, announced that the Infiniti QX56 outscored all vehicles rated across all classes in the inaugural “2006 Motorist’s Choice Awards.” The QX56’s index of 737 led all models, topping the next highest ranked vehicle in the four classes (Cars, Sport Utility, Trucks and Minivans) by eight index points.
IntelliChoice.com and AutoPacific created the Motorist’s Choice Awards to determine which vehicles delivered both the highest satisfaction and lowest cost of ownership. The collaboration between the two respected firms, who have each been authorities on the U.S. auto market for the last 20 years, takes selected owner satisfaction data from both AutoPacific’s surveys and IntelliChoice.com’s rating methodology to create a new measurement for the index.
“We are very pleased to receive such an award, highlighting again the Infiniti QX56’s desirability across global markets” said Mustansir Lakdawala, Infiniti brand manager at Infiniti Middle East. “The QX56 has been extremely popular worldwide, and particularly in this region – it offers space, power, comfort and safety in a well rounded package, and its low cost of ownership makes it a unique large SUV to own.”

Arabian Automobiles recently celebrated the launch of three new Infiniti 2007 models: the FX crossover, the all new G Sedan and the long awaited M. The launch was attended by senior Infiniti executives from Japan, VIPs and media representatives who were welcomed by executives from Infiniti Middle East and Arabian Automobiles.
Announcing the company’s ambitious plans at the event, General Manager Michel I. Ayat aims to make Infiniti the top-selling Japanese luxury brand in Dubai and the Northern Emirates by the end of 2009.
“In 2006, we expect the Infiniti sales in UAE to be about 2200 units, a growth of 37% over 2005. Maintaining this trend puts us on course to achieve our target of being the Number One Japanese luxury brand within three years.”
During the event Toru Hasegawa, managing director of Infiniti Middle East explained that Infiniti is not only about product but also customer experience. In this context he announced that Infiniti will implement Total Ownership Experience by establishing global standards for customer handling which will contribute to enhancing the quality of sales and service. “This is the Infiniti promise, which extends the relationship with Infiniti owners in long term. Within this, Infiniti Middle East through its regional dealers will soon roll out the Infiniti Retail Environment Design Initiative (IREDI) facilities to provide a unique and exclusive shopping experience with the extended excellent services and customer benefits. This is what sets Infiniti apart from the rest of the pack”, he said.
From his side Ayat said Arabian Automobiles is building a dedicated Infiniti showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road as well as exclusive service centers. The whole project is due to be operational by end of 2008.
Arabian Automobiles is also creating an independent strategic business unit for Infiniti, giving the brand its own support with dedicated human resources in marketing, sales and after-sales divisions.
The Infiniti product lineup comprises five models, headed by the Q premium luxury sedan, along with the QX full-size SUV, G sports sedan, G sports coupe and the FX premium crossover SUV. The Infiniti lineup also welcomes the Infiniti M, the most technologically advanced Infiniti vehicle launched to date. Of the full lineup on show, Infiniti offers a brand new G Sedan, FX in addition to the M.
First, the all-new 2007 Infiniti M is the most luxurious and technologically advanced sedan from a brand that is already synonymous with these characteristics. This sporty sedan is elegantly designed to outperform, gifting its driver an unparalleled driving experience at 362 horsepower in a graceful and inviting interior.
Advanced technology, elegant styling, and vibrant design set the M in a class of its own and earned it an array of awards from specialized automotive media and analysts abroad.
The FX 07 Year Model is another example of Infiniti’s commitment to stand out from the pack of less exciting, less confident vehicles in the performance luxury market. It’s a car that’s different by design with its trend-setting exterior and interior style, blending a substantial SUV lower body design with the sleek, elegant upper body more reminiscent of a classic sports car.
Finally, the all-new G Sedan, a design beyond machine; a sensational driving experience with a 4th generation VQ engine that produces 327 horsepower, with its athletic and seductive styling with unexpected roominess and an artistic showcase of Japanese craftsmanship sealed with modern warmth.
“The luxury market in the UAE is the fastest-growing in the Middle East,” said Ayat. “It has overtaken Saudi Arabia in volume, and is now recognized as internationally significant.
“Although the total UAE auto market estimated to grow by 18 percent in 2006 over ‘05, at Arabian Automobiles we have outstripped this – achieving sales growth of 23 per cent in the first nine months 2006 alone compared to same period in 2005.
“Infiniti made a very significant contribution to these figures; we are confident that the results will be maintained and that we can meet our targets.”

Infiniti launched a full lineup of luxury vehicles in Taiwan, making Taiwan the third market after North America and the Middle East to sell a complete range of Infiniti vehicles. With the great success of the line up including the sporty G Coupe and Sedan, the large SUV QX, the sedan Q and the unprecedented crossover FX, Infiniti has set its base in the Middle East and resumed its global expansion plans by reaching the Taiwan market.
With the introduction of a more complete Infiniti lineup, consumers in Taiwan will now have access to such popular Infiniti models as the G sport coupe and the M luxury sedan. The new lineup will be sold through five exclusive Infiniti dealers located throughout Taiwan.
“We recognize Taiwan as one of the region’s most dynamic markets for luxury vehicles,” said Yasuaki Hashimoto, VP of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “Taiwan is one of the first markets to launch the full Infiniti lineup and to deliver Infiniti’s premium Total Ownership Experience.”
Infiniti, which was first launched in Taiwan in 1997, has been represented in the market through sales of the QX comfortable luxury sport utility vehicle and Q premium luxury sedan until now. With this introduction, it will include a total of five models adding the G and M to the current product line-up of FX, Q and G Coupe.
Launching Infiniti in Taiwan is part of Nissan’s long-term global growth strategy for the brand. At the company’s announcement of its fiscal year 2004 financial results and new three-year business plan NISSAN Value-Up on April 25, Nissan’s President & CEO Carlos Ghosn said that Nissan would launch Infiniti in more major global luxury markets over the course of the next three-to-five years.
Infiniti was established in the U.S. in 1989 and is one of the fastest growing luxury brands in that market.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
It is always a great pleasure to return to the Middle East… and tonight’s event is a particular highlight.
In the heart of the Middle East, one of the world’s most dynamic markets for luxury vehicles… we are fully launching the Infiniti brand and fulfilling our promise and commitment to our dealers and customers throughout this region.
Since Infiniti epitomizes “progressive luxury,” this cosmopolitan, forward-looking city is the perfect setting for this launch.
Every great brand has its own story… and Infiniti is no exception.
When Infiniti was established 15 years ago in the U.S., its products demonstrated a unique blend of refined design and exceptional performance. Infiniti steadily built its reputation on the merits of attractive, competitive products and outstanding customer service.
Two years ago, we launched the Infiniti Q here in the Middle East, and the foundation of a loyal and steadily growing customer base was laid. During those same two years, the Infiniti story became a blockbuster in America, emerging as the fastest-growing luxury brand in the world’s largest automotive market.
What is driving our growing success?
I would say the way we look at Infiniti has evolved. We have increased our investments in Infiniti, dedicating more resources to refine and enhance our product lineup. We have taken calculated risks to differentiate our models from the predictable offerings that fill the premium car market. The result is a dramatic, powerful improvement in Infiniti’s brand power and relevance.
Infiniti is not about doing what everyone else is doing. It is not about copying traditional, conservative notions of luxury. Infiniti is all about offering rear- and all-wheel-drive cars that are a distinct alternative to the usual players. Cars that invite and exhilarate in a way that is entirely new to customers. Cars with character that are a destination in their own right.
Each Infiniti model has to live up to our promise of graceful strength.
At first glance, the design must be attractive. Beautiful, warm designs… sometimes even edgy and aggressive…but always distinctive and true.
Inside are the kinds of amenities that surprise and delight our customers. Refined comfort… elegant, stylish materials… and intelligent, reliable technology that provides real value and is easy to use.
Because Infiniti is a premium brand, driving performance is uncompromising. Superior horsepower and torque and performance-oriented enhancements combine to provide the muscle and control that exhilarate drivers and give meaning to the phrase "dynamic luxury performance."
Finally, Infiniti is a total ownership experience. Part of the product appeal is the satisfaction that comes from personal service that completely anticipates and rewards at every interaction. Infiniti consistently ranks at or among the top luxury brands in U.S. customer satisfaction surveys, and we are confident that our dealers will provide superior service to customers in this market as well.
To fully appreciate the five models that Infiniti is launching in the Middle East, you have to sit inside and drive them. Each one is designed and engineered to appeal to specific customers.
For example, the Q – our flagship premium sedan – is an impressive combination of styling, interior innovation and performance. Its 365-horsepower V8 engine delivers quiet power, and a host of intuitive technologies provide control and complete peace of mind in an inviting, luxurious environment.
The Infiniti QX, our full-size sport utility vehicle, communicates strength on a grand scale. Even so, this roomy, adaptable SUV is still a pleasure to drive, with a muscular V8, crisp handling and the highest amount of torque in its class.
The Infiniti G sport sedan and G coupe share a racing-inspired platform, rear-wheel-drive performance features and numerous telematics and safety technologies.
The G sport sedan benefits from the most powerful V6 engine in its class – an engine that has been named one of the world’s “10 Best” for 10 years in a row.
The sleek G sport coupe has aerodynamic styling and a sport-tuned suspension package that connect you to the road, with a low coefficient of drag to enhance the power of the V6.
Finally, the FX crossover is like nothing you have ever seen – or felt – before. Engineered with our award-winning V6 engine and one of the most advanced drive systems we have ever built, the FX gives you reflex-quick steering and precise balance for a truly satisfying driving experience. In the center of its unconventional design is the heartbeat of a sports car.
Infiniti is a challenger in the ranks of the world’s premier luxury brands, so it is not a prisoner of its position. We are challengers… competitive challengers.
As a consequence – and as our lineup reveals – this is a brand that is always open to new ideas and thoughtful innovations that offer something more – whether through rational advances in safety, quality or technology… or through emotional allures that will quicken the pulse, invigorate the senses and help people enjoy their lives to the fullest.
And isn’t that at the heart of what luxury is all about?
Artful refinement that embraces the promise of the future through creative innovation.
This is the spirit of Infiniti.
We are delighted to launch this experience in the Middle East… and, soon, in other global markets as well. We have already announced our desire to take the
Infiniti brand global as a tier-1 luxury brand, moving beyond its North American birthplace – first here, next in Korea and then to markets that could include Russia, China, Japan and Western Europe. Expanding our lineup in this fast-growing region is a first step.
With an expanded lineup of high-performance luxury sedans, sport coupes, crossovers and sport utility vehicles in the Middle East region, Infiniti’s strong appeal should make an immediate impact. With all their tangible benefits and features, Infiniti vehicles deliver on an intangible promise as well – the thrill of owning and driving some of the world’s best and most reliable high-performance luxury models.
We expect the five vehicles being launched here tonight to mark an exciting chapter in the history of Infiniti brand, both here and across the globe. We are committed to keeping our product line fresh and invigorating… our sales growth strong… and our future wide open to new opportunities and new, higher levels of dynamic luxury performance.
This evening, as we open a new chapter in the life of this brand, we invite you to enter the rewarding world of Infiniti.

INFINITI has chosen the Middle East as the first market outside North America to launch its latest luxury vehicle lineup. Early 2005, a new range of Infiniti cars and luxury sport utility vehicles will be available to customers in the Middle East. This includes the FX crossover and G sports sedan and coupe.
The Infiniti brand has been represented in the Middle East since 2002 through the limited import of the Q luxury sedan. The new range of Infiniti vehicles will make the Middle East the second region outside of North America to sell a complete range of Infiniti vehicles, supported by eight dealers across the region.
“We are convinced that Infiniti, following its success in the fiercely competitive U.S. market, will strongly appeal to Middle East luxury vehicle customers,” said Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
“A $2 billion automotive luxury market, the Middle East is one of the world’s most important markets for luxury vehicles. We are confident that Infiniti will make an immediate impact and quickly establish a significant presence in the Middle East luxury market.”
Since its initial North American launch in November 1989, Infiniti has been an award-winning leader in customer satisfaction, cutting-edge design and high performance. Following the introduction of the G sports sedan and coupe in 2001, Infiniti has expanded its vehicle line-up constantly and become the fastest-growing luxury brand in the U.S. for the past two years.
Launching Infiniti in the Middle East is part of a long-term global growth strategy for Infiniti. In 2005, Infiniti will launch in Korea followed by planned introductions in other major global luxury markets over the course of the next three-to-five years.
Five new Infiniti models will be sold in the Middle East starting in the first half of 2005. These include the 2005 Q luxury sedan, QX full-size SUV, G sports sedan, G sports coupe and the FX premium crossover SUV.
Through the earlier introduction of the Q, Infiniti has already established a loyal Middle East customer base. This fact, together with the market size and potential of the Middle East has created an excellent opportunity for Infiniti to reinforce its position with several all-new products.
Heading the all-new line-up is the 2005 edition of Infiniti’s flagship, the Q premium luxury sedan.
The Q premium luxury sedan has always represented a unique combination of exciting performance, dramatic styling and a luxurious interior. The 2005 model receives a more distinctive, more aggressive exterior appearance including new front and rear fascias, restyled hood and grille, new headlight design, new integrated fog lamps, restyled trunk decklid and finisher and LED taillights.
Under the hood, the Q’s performance is matched with corresponding quietness, despite the muscular torque output of 47.8 kg-m and 365-hp from its VQDE engine – more horses than most V8 competitors. Its advanced five-speed automatic transmission has been recalibrated for improved downshift response and smoother acceleration.
The 2005 Q features such innovative technology as an LCD information display screen, RearView monitor, pre-crash seat belts and one of the most advanced headlight systems in the world.
Launching simultaneously with the Q is the 2005 QX luxury sport utility vehicle. It combines all the luxury appointments of the Infiniti brand with seating for up to eight, generous cargo and towing capacity, plus rugged off-road capability.
Designated QX for its powerful 5.6-litre, 340-horsepower V8 engine, this 2005 Infiniti model is designed for buyers who are looking for something new and different in a full-size luxury SUV. It provides a combination of practical elegance and ergonomic thoughtfulness with a rewarding level of comfort and indulgence.
The Infiniti G sport coupe and G sedan are stable mates that share powerful, rear-wheel drive performance with a racing-inspired platform and advanced technology, all draped under a sensuous, aerodynamic body.
The 2005 G sport coupe is powered by a 289 hp, 3.5 litre, DOHC V6 with five-speed automatic transmission, backed by a new sport-tuned suspension package with 18-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels, viscous limited-slip differential, drilled aluminum pedals and unique sport steering wheel.
The 2005 G sport sedan comes with a redesigned exterior and a refined interior featuring a new instrument panel and console area. The standard 3.5-litre DOHC V6 engine also has 289 horsepower and 37.9Kg/m of torque.
Other performance-oriented changes for the 2005 G lineup include the use of larger standard brake rotors and the addition of 18-inch wheels and tyres and viscous limited-slip differential to the Sport-Tuned Suspension Package.
The FX is the Infiniti’s dramatic venture into the premium crossover SUV field. It is powered by a 3.5-litre, DOHC, 24-valve, V6 with aluminum-alloy block and heads and electronically controlled ‘drive-by-wire’ throttle system.
Visually, the Infiniti FX presents an aggressively stylish exterior characterised by its 2.85m long-wheelbase, wide track, aggressive stance, long hoodline, and Infiniti’s signature grille.
A sleek roof with unique pillar design, rear profile with ‘taut canopy’ design, ‘in-motion’ headlights and taillights, and dual split tailpipes with chrome finishers round off the visual appeal.

INFINITI’S G sedan, now available for the first time in the Middle East, has set monthly and yearly sales records in North America since it first hit the market close to three years ago, earning the ‘Best in Class’ award three years in a row by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.
Middle East customers now join the G’s fast-growing fan club at a time when the sedan sets a new benchmark for its sector providing progressive and modern luxury that challenges the conventional brands of same class.
The 2005 model now on sale takes a leap forward from the already exacting G standards, featuring a redesigned exterior, a refined interior with new instrument panel and console area, and increased horsepower and torque from the standard 3.5-litre, 24-valve, DOHC V6 engine.
The front engine, rear-wheel drive now delivers 289 horsepower and 37.9 Kg\M of torque, linked to electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.
Other performance-oriented changes for 2005 include the use of larger standard brake rotors, 4-wheel independent multi-link suspension with extensive use of lightweight aluminum components, and large diameter front and rear stabiliser bars.
Engine speed-sensitive power rack-and-pinion steering, vehicle dynamic control, four-wheel power-assisted vented disc brakes, standard four-wheel anti-lock braking, and electronic brake force distribution round off the impressive ride and handling characteristics.
The new exterior design reflects the G’s sporty character and dynamic performance, featuring a very low drag coefficient and zero front lift.
A sliding glass sunroof with tilt and one-touch open/close feature is an available option.
Inside, seats are upholstered in luxurious, ultra-soft leather with eight-way power adjustment on the driver’s seat and four-way on the passenger’s side.
Infotainment is provided by a Bose in-dash six-disc CD changer with MP3 playback capability. The premium audio system is powers seven speakers, in addition to steering wheel audio controls, speed-sensitive auto volume control and RDS radio function.
Digital automatic temperature control has standard micro filtration and rear heater vents.
Safety features include dual-stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt sensors, front-seat and front and rear curtain side-impact supplemental air bags, and three-point seat belts with adjustable upper anchors, pre-tensioners and load limiters.

The FX is Infiniti’s dramatic venture into the crossover SUV field, newly-launched in Middle East markets and introducing a host of original features for the segment, from styling to comfort and performance.
At the heart of the FX is by a 3.5-litre, DOHC, 24-valve V6 engine with aluminum-alloy block and heads and an electronically controlled ‘drive-by-wire’ throttle system, producing a muscular 280 horsepower and 37.9 Kg/m of torque.
The front engine/all-wheel drive system mates to five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with manual shift mode.
For superior ride and handling, the FX has an enhanced FM (Front Mid-ship) platform combined with Infiniti’s all-wheel-drive system called ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split).
When activated by the driver, the system shifts the throttle input algorithm for enhanced traction in low-speed slippery road conditions.
Suspension, steering, and braking are built on a four-wheel independent design, with front strut and rear multi-links, extensive use of lightweight aluminum components, front upper link and rear subframe.
Inside, a fusion of warm and cool surfaces blend with cockpit-like styling, sports-style seats, and sports car-like controls and steering wheel.
Infiniti’s design concept for the FX creates ‘personalised zones’ for the driver, front, and rear passengers. Extensive use of real aluminum trim on the centre console, gear-shift area, steering wheel spokes, and doors complements the concept.
The powered telescopic steering controls come with auto driving position adjustment, and wheel-mounted audio and cruise control switches.
A large information monitor (5.8 inches) keeps the driver up-to-date with all vehicle data, and mobile entertainment comes from a Bose audio system with 11 speakers and 6-CD in-dash autochanger. The signature Infiniti analog clock and non-dazzle (auto compass) rearview mirror complete the interior amenities.
Easy access is provided at slide-in seat height, where 10-way power adjustment is available on the driver's seat, and eight-way for the passenger. Reclining rear seats have remote flip-down and 60/40-split fold-down, backed by a large cargo area with underfloor storage. The lightweight cargo door has an electromagnetic opener switch and automatic back door closure assist system.
Standard safety features include dual-stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt sensors, and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags with rollover head protection and rollover sensors. Three-point ALR/ELR seat belts (driver’s seat ELR only) have front seat belt adjustable upper anchors with pretensioners and load limiters.
Infiniti’s ‘Zone Body’ construction uses an energy-dispersing side structure and front and rear crumple zones, along with breakaway propeller shaft/slide away brake pedal design. The LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tether for Children) child seat anchorage system is standard as is the vehicle security system with Infiniti immobiliser.
For the time being, Inifiniti is not introducing the FX45 stablemate to Middle East markets because modifications for the demanding driving and climatic conditions of the GCC would require changing the special design that has made FX the halo model of the Infiniti line up.
“FX 35’s comparatively smaller sized engine allowed these modifications to be made which were not possible with the larger engine size currently found on the FX45,” the company says.
"Infiniti is committed to the Middle East market and meeting customer needs to ensure our customers enjoy the full benefit of the Infiniti ownership experience, although many individuals are already importing Infiniti vehicles via grey market orders from outside the region even without warranty due to the special nature of this modern luxury brand."

The newly-launched Infiniti QX, now available in Middle East markets, is positioned as the ultimate sport utility vehicle experience, combining all the luxury appointments of the Infiniti brand with seating for up to eight, generous cargo and towing capacity, plus rugged off-road capability.
Designated QX for its powerful 5.6-litre, 340-horsepower V8 engine, the newcomer has already earned the ‘Best New Large SUV’ award by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine in North America.
The QX is designed for luxury SUV buyers who are looking for something new and different, providing a combination of practical elegance and ergonomic thoughtfulness with a rewarding level of comfort and indulgence.
It creates an imposing presence through a sophisticated and progressive body design with a chrome ‘waterfall’ style grille, elegant chrome seven-spoke wheels, unique roof rack finish, body side cladding and integrated towing hardware.
The same classy styling is evident in the interior, where leather upholstery and thick Tuscano carpeting set the tone, complemented by the leather, wood and aluminum steering wheel, aluminum instrument panel finish, and trim highlights in genuine dark macore or blonde apaya wood. ‘Fine Vision’ instrument illumination and the signature Infiniti analog clock add to the feeling of cockpit luxury.
Multiple-configuration seating provides generous legroom, with 10-way power-adjustment on the driver's seat, and eight-way power on the front passenger side. Dual-zone electronically controlled climate control row ensures occupant comfort, and owners can opt for the DVD Family Entertainment System with two wireless headphones and remote control or the Standard Bose audio system with 10 speakers, AM/FM/6-CD autochanger, steering wheel mounted controls, and dual media capability.
But for all the comfort and luxury of the QX, hard-core SUV enthusiasts are more interested on what lies under the skin, and here the Infiniti is geared to meet the highest expectations.
The standard 5.6-litre DOHC V8 engine produces 340 horsepower at 4,900 RPM and 57.1Kg/m of torque at 3,600 RPM. The aluminum engine block has cast iron cylinder liners, forged steel crankshaft, microfinished crankshaft and camshafts, molybdenum-coated pistons, 6-bolt main bearing caps, and single-stage timing chain.
Standard transmission is five-speed electronically-controlled automatic with tow/haul modes for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency, and gated floor shifter for enhanced control when towing.
Ride and handling are smoothly managed by double-wishbone suspension with stabilizer bar at the front and independent double-wishbone at the rear, also with stabilizer bar.
Safety features include standard supplemental curtain air bags for side impact and rollover protection for all three rows, standard side-impact supplemental air bags (front seat mounted), and advanced air bag system (AABS) with dual-stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt sensors and a front passenger occupant classification sensor.
